Last night I was watching tv and a commercial came on about the highway construction in my city. I couldn’t believe it there it was. My vector made it’s way to the tv not to mention in my home town. The image is supposed to look like you are looking out you car window and the air freshner is blocking your view. Well anyways I still couldn’t believe it. It could be someone else’s tag so I paused the tv took a picture and went straight to the computer to see if everything lined up. yep it sure did. Also just an update and a thank you, this set of vectors was downloaded almost 20,000 times so far. Again thanks for downloading and reading. ::pixlp::

I think I might have found your vector again as “Today’s Gift” (2-26-08) on Facebook. Take a look! http://www.facebook.com/giftshop.php?sku=705&hns

@Lisa, I don’t think that one is mine. I made a couple distinct things to mine so I don’t think it is. I am kinda glad that one isn’t mine either since they are selling it for a dollar.

Oh, good. I always have mixed feeling about others using my stuff. I am flattered that they like it enough to use it but a bit of “it’s mine” is there as well. I know going in when I offer free stuff that will happen. I put a little monitor calendar that is laid out in a little strip on the AdobeExchange Illustrator and update it every year. I always get a lot of positive feedback and others say they like to use it as a base for their clients, etc. A co-worker found it as a free download, incorporated with their design, on someone’s site. I think seeing it on another person’s site, when normally I wouldn’t know where it was used, did get to me a little.

That is so cool. My feelings on giving away free stuff is that you can attach a non-commercial license to it. Then the user can learn from it and use it in their projects. If you had done that it would not have shown up on the local news, or if it had they would first need your permission. Which its cool to get on the local news so I’m rethinking my stance on this.
I’m curious how this goes. Its really cool to get your design on TV, but giving away with limitations gives you all many of the benefits of exposure without endless uses for your by others without receiving permission first for commercial application. Downside is it probably won’t be used for commercial applications then.
I’m kinda on the fence about what license to use in giving away vector graphics. So, I’d like to hear anything else about this. As it sounds like you have given away liberal usage of your graphics.
Thx.

@Sean I create the vectors, brushes, textures for people to use. I don’t care what they use it for as long as they don’t post it as their own on blog or start selling the actual vector for profit. They are made so that people can learn and use them in there daily work. So when I see my vector on news or out on town I can say wow I helped that designer create that. It’s a great feeling.

Hey, I’m from St. Louis too! I saw this and I was like, hey I know that commercial too…We do lots of 3D modeling and rendering and we use those cloud brushes (I’m pretty sure they are yours) for our backgrounds and skies. Nice work!

Brent I am glad to here that I have a local fan. I do a lot of 3d rendering for the company I work for, not so much architectural but more for tradeshow design. I started as a graphic designer and grew into a position for 3d design. I love doing both. What 3d applications are you working with? I am currently using Form-Z. It’s great being able to use 3d in my graphic design work, an example would be the pixlpusher header. ::pixlp::

Hey, I stumbled upon this site quite accidentally while googling ‘luggage tag vectors’ and not only did I find your useful free vectors, but I see that you’re also from St Louis which is my home town!
Do you mind me asking what firm you work for?
I did my best to get a design job in STL after graduating with my BFA from Mizzou but had to go all the way to Springfield, MO to find something good.

I am really not as well accustomed to this topic but I do like to check out blogs for layout strategies and fascinating subjects. You ultimately described a subject that I in most cases do not care much about and crafted it awfully fascinating. This can be a great weblog that I’ll take note of. I currently bookmarked it for future reference. Thank you
